Nahid Behroozi, a Baha'i citizen, continues to face uncertainty as her detention in a prison near Tehran has been extended for another week.
She was arrested on July 29 by Ministry of Intelligence agents at her home in Alborz Province.
"Despite 25 days having passed since her arrest, she remains in a state of uncertainty in Kachooie Prison, Karaj," the HRANA human rights organization reported.
Behroozi was transferred to Kachooie Prison on August 15 following the completion of interrogations at the Ministry of Intelligence's detention facility.
The reasons for Behroozi's arrest and the charges against her remain undisclosed.
Baha’is have been systematically persecuted in Iran for 44 years because of their faith and are often accused of being spies or of opposing the Iranian government.
The Baha’i International Community notes that generally, no evidence is provided to substantiate these charges.
The Iranian government has intensified its crackdown on members of the Baha'i faith, imprisoning dozens over the past year on spurious charges, denying access to higher education and livelihoods, and confiscating or destroying personal properties.
