The Anniversary of Khomeini’s Return

As the Islamic Republic of Iran continues its bloody crackdown on nationwide protests, it is marking the 44th anniversary of the revolution that turned the country into a theocracy. On February 1, 1979, revolutionary leader Ruhollah Khomeini returned to Iran from exile, which led to the overthrow of the monarchy.
