The European Parliament has overwhelmingly voted to call on the EU to include Iran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and its affiliates on the bloc's terrorist list. Created after the 1979 revolution to protect the Islamic Republic from internal and external threats, the IRGC has evolved into an institution with vast military, political and economic power.
