Iranian Club Fails to Hand Ronaldo’s Signed Shirts to Artist Fatimeh

UPDATE: Hours after this article was published and a public outcry, in a press release, Persepolis FC claimed that the shirt had been left at their office "by mistake." The shirt was returned to Fatemeh's family later day.

The brother of Fatemeh Hamami, a disabled Iranian artist who was gifted two autographed shirts by Cristiano Ronaldo during his visit to Tehran this week, says Persepolis FC failed to hand the jerseys to her.

Morteza Hamami said that the club promised to give the shirts to his sister but failed to do so.

"Despite her disability, my sister made efforts to contact the Persepolis club and request Ronaldo's gift to be handed to her," he also said. 

Persepolis later released a statement explaining that the shirts were "inadvertently left behind” by the club's management.

The Saudi club Al-Nassr, led by Ronaldo, was received with great enthusiasm when they arrived in Tehran on September 18 for an Asian Champions League match against Persepolis the next day. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Al-Nassr.

During the visit, Hamami met with Ronaldo and presented her paintings to the Portuguese football star.

Hamami, who suffers from a rare genetic disorder that affects her limbs, has painted portraits of many celebrities in addition to those of her football icons by using only her feet.
