US tech giant Meta has removed accounts run by the office of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Instagram and Facebook as part of its policy to not allow users that “proclaim a violent or hateful mission or are engaged in violence.”

“We have removed these accounts for repeatedly violating our Dangerous Organizations & Individuals policy,” a spokesperson for Instagram’s parent company Meta said.

In October, the company said it would remove “praise and substantive support” for Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

Khamenei has praised Hamas and other organizations designated as terrorist organizations by the United States.

“We kiss the foreheads and arms of those who planned the attack on the Zionist regime,” Iran's clerical leader said after Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel.

Khamenei’s office maintains accounts on social media platforms Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, all of which are blocked by the Islamic Republic.
