The Islamic Republic's police have arrested over 260 people on charges of participating in an unauthorized gathering and consuming alcohol, though details surrounding the event remain unclear.

According to the Police Intelligence Organization, authorities detained 146 men and 115 women.

The report alleges that the detainees bore symbols associated with Satanism on their clothing, hair, and faces.

Three of those arrested are reportedly European nationals. Additionally, authorities seized 73 vehicles.

Iran's government and judiciary have long faced criticism for infringing on citizens' personal freedoms.

Independent verification of the details about the recent arrests, including the nature of the symbols and the reasons for the arrests, is currently unavailable.
