A mine explosion in Iran's West Azerbaijan province has killed one Kurdish man and injured two others.

The explosion at the Kelashin Mountains' border heights in Oshnavieh (Shno) county resulted in the death of Esmail Azouzmeh and severe injuries to Seyyed Hemn Mousavi and Seyyed Hadi Mousavi, the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported.

On Tuesday, May 21, a mine explosion claimed the life of Esmail Azouzmeh, a 37-year-old resident of Mirabad village in Oshnavieh.

According to Hengaw sources, the injured individuals, 27-year-old Seyyed Hemn Mousavi and 26-year-old Seyyed Hadi Mousavi, are brothers from the same village.

They had been gathering springtime medicinal herbs when the explosion occurred and were eventually transported to medical centers for treatment.

In recent years, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have planted new mines in the Kelashin heights, ostensibly to counter Kurdish opposition parties, Hengaw reported.
