Iran Executes Man on Espionage Charges, Third Since Israeli Strikes Began

Iran executed a man on Monday on charges of spying for Israel, marking the third such execution since Israeli strikes began on June 13, according to state media.

Mohammad Amin Mahdavi-Shayesteh was hanged at dawn after being convicted of "intelligence cooperation with Israel," the Mizan news agency, which is affiliated with Iran’s judiciary, reported.

Authorities alleged that Mahdavi-Shayesteh led a cyber network that collaborated with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and conducted media operations against the Iranian government.

Officials claimed he met with Israeli agents in a neighboring country while operating under the cover of an immigration company.

The judiciary said that his role involved "managing psychological and media operations against the Islamic Republic's armed forces in cyberspace."

Majid Mosayebi and Ismail Fakri were executed last week on similar allegations.

Iranian authorities have provided no evidence or held public trials in these espionage cases.

The executions have drawn criticism from human rights groups and international observers, who question the transparency of Iran’s judicial proceedings in national security matters.
