Sixty-six-year-old "Effat Seyed-Ashrafi," a resident of Fardis, Karaj, and a mother of two, was severely wounded on January 9 during protests after being struck by three live bullets in her leg, abdomen, and pelvis, and lost her life hours later.

According to information received by IranWire, 66-year-old "Effat Seyed-Ashrafi," a resident of Fardis, Karaj, and a mother of two, was severely wounded on January 9 during protests after being struck by three live bullets in her leg, abdomen, and pelvis, and lost her life hours later.

According to informed sources, the family found her while she was still alive and immediately transferred her to a nearby clinic, but she passed away approximately two hours later due to the severity of her injuries.

Based on this account, a large number of wounded and deceased individuals had been transferred to medical centers that day, and the family identified Effat Seyed-Ashrafi's body among the injured and dead.

An informed source who spoke with IranWire says that Effat Seyed-Ashrafi’s body was kept in the Bibi Sakineh morgue for two days and was handed over to the family on January 11. The family buried the slain mother on the same day at Behesht-e Rezvan cemetery in Shahriar.

According to this source, a sum of 100 million tomans was demanded from the family to release the body under the guise of "bullet money," and they were also asked to designate her as a "martyr" (shahid), but the family rejected this request. According to relatives, the burial and other related ceremonies were held under the tight control of security forces, and plainclothes agents were present around Behesht-e Rezvan.

Effat Seyed-Ashrafi was a homemaker and the mother of two sons. Her relatives say she was a kind and compassionate woman who, in addition to her own children, played a role in raising many children within the family and among relatives. Her family remembers her as a person with a kind heart, immense hope, and deep concern for the future of Iran.
