Agents of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence have transferred nine political prisoners from Tehran’s Evin Prison to an undisclosed location on September 3, the activist HRANA news agency reported.
It said the prisoners were handcuffed, subjected to violence and deprived of their personal belongings during the transfer.
The prisoners included Saeed Masouri, Afshin Baimani, Hamzeh Savari, Hossein Gachlo, Masoud Reza Ebrahiminejad, Luqman Aminpour, Saman Yassin, Mohammad Shafie and Matlab Ahmadian.
They were reportedly told they would be transferred to Qezalhesar Prison in Karaj, near Tehran, but their families and lawyers have been unable to confirm their whereabouts.
The Iranian authorities often transfer political prisoners as a tactic to intimidate and silence political dissent.
