As nationwide protests against the Islamic Republic in Iran entered their ninth day, major cities across the world continue to witness large rallies in support of the Iranian people.
The streets of Paris, Vienna, Stockholm, Toronto, Ottawa, and Rome played host to thousands of diaspora Iranians, human rights activists and other supporters on Saturday and Sunday alone.
Two demonstrations were held in Paris in memory of Mahsa Amini and to express solidarity with Iranian women.

One of these gatherings was co-organized by Fabian Roussel, a French MP and secretary of the country’s Communist Party. The other was organized by Kurdish and leftist Iranian youth groups.

Dozens of Iranians, French nationals and Kurds from different countries took part in the two gatherings, chanting the slogans "Woman, Life, Freedom", "Death to the oppressor, be it Shah or leader", and "Death to the Islamic Republic".
In Toronto, the number of Iranians and citizens participating in the rally on Saturday was so great that police had to close the major artery Yonge Street to traffic. In Ottawa, the capital of Canada, Iranians protested in front of the parliament building on Sunday.
Videos released from Stockholm and elsewhere also showed a mixed presence of Iranians and non-Iranian supporters. They followed two major rallies in London and Istanbul last week. At one of the London gatherings hundreds gathered in front of the Iranian Embassy, shouting "Disgraceful, disgraceful".
Another person stood on the roof of the Islamic Center of England, an Iranian state-owned building overseen by a representative of Khamenei, and held aloft the lion and sun flag.

Mahsa Amini’s name and story, and the Mahsa_Amini hashtag, have spread around the world since her death last Friday. The ongoing protests in Iran have received the public backing of a diverse array of politicians, actors, artists and thinkers.
