Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest-reigning monarch, died in Balmoral Castle on Thursday at the age of 96. She ascended to the throne in the 1950s, when Iran was ruled by the Shah, and ruled through successive turbulent periods of Anglo-Iranian relations.
