Iranian teacher Mohammad Saeedi has been in custody for the past eleven days, IranWire reports.

Saeedi, a member of the Lordegan teachers' union in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, was arrested alongside Morteza Hadidi, another teacher.

Saeedi previously planted trees in memory of those killed in the Woman, Life, Freedom protests that swept the country in 2022. He also visited the family of Kian Pirfalek, a nine-year-old killed during the protests.

As a teacher, he is known for citing poems to students in class and participating in teachers' protests.

These activities led to his dismissal from the education sector by the Administrative Court of Justice.

The court cited reasons such as supporting the protests, artistic expressions of sympathy, and "favorism for hostile groups."

The Coordinating Council of Teachers' Union condemned Saeedi's dismissal, calling it an acceleration of the education system's decline.
