A victim of the Islamic Republic's crackdown on the November 2019 protests has now been sentenced to 31 months in prison by the Iranian judiciary.
According to a report from the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Matin Hasani, a resident of Bukan, was recently convicted by Branch 101 of the city's Criminal Court.
He faces charges of "inciting or provoking people to fight and kill each other with the intent to disrupt national security" and "propaganda against the Islamic Republic."
The sentencing comes after his court appearance on May 16.
The young man's legal troubles began on January 23, when security forces raided his family's home in Bukan and arrested him.
After spending a month in Bukan Central Prison, Hasani was temporarily released on February 22 on bail.
Hasani's case has drawn attention due to his status as a victim of the November 2019 protests. During the demonstrations, he sustained a severe injury to his left eye from gunfire by Iranian security forces.
His ordeal continued in December 2019 when he was arrested by security force agents at a medical center in Tehran while seeking treatment for his eye injury.
