Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has claimed Israeli forces were forced to withdraw from Gaza, characterizing the situation as a defeat for Israel.
"It will be written in books that there was a mob who once killed thousands of children and women in Gaza," Khamenei said.
He attributed what he described as Israel's retreat to "the patience of the people and the steadfastness of Palestinian resistance and the Resistance Front."
Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire agreement on Wednesday, ending 15 months of conflict, with the first hostages set for release on Sunday.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) hailed the Gaza ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas as a "victory" for the Palestinian cause and a setback for Israel.
"The end of the war and the imposition of a ceasefire... is a clear victory and a great triumph for Palestine and a bigger defeat for the monstrous Zionist regime," the IRGC said in a statement.
Under the deal, hostages will be exchanged for Hamas prisoners held in Israel over several months.
The agreement will unfold in three distinct phases, ultimately leading to a permanent ceasefire. This will include the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the release of hostages and remains from Hamas tunnels.
