Idris Haji Rasulpour, whose brother died in custody during Iran's Woman, Life, Freedom protests, was arrested on Thursday and taken to Bukan Central Prison to serve a three-month sentence.
Rasulpour, from Alikand village near Bukan, was convicted by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court on charges of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic."
Security forces initially arrested him in May 2024 during a raid on his family home after he participated in Newroz celebrations.
Hengaw Human Rights Organization reported that Rasulpour was released on bail pending trial.
His brother, Mohammad Haji Rasulpour, 57, died in December 2022 at Bukan's Qolipour Hospital after falling into a coma.
According to Hengaw, Mohammad's coma resulted from torture and being denied water for three weeks while in security detention. He had previously been held as a political prisoner.
