U.S. Treasury Secretary: Damages From Iran’s Attacks Will Be Paid From Its Assets

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote on X that the Islamic Republic of Iran will lose in its “zero-sum game.”

In the post, Bessent said damages caused by the Islamic Republic’s missile and drone attacks on Arab countries, described as “American allies in the Persian Gulf,” will be deducted from Iran’s frozen assets in the United States.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary also wrote that any tolls collected from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz will be compensated by withdrawals from Iran’s accounts. He warned that every attack carried out by Iran will bring further economic and financial consequences for Tehran.
