Mass protests in Iran over the murder of Mahsa Amini, and unprecedented opposition to forced hijab and the Islamic Republic in general, have faced violent attempts at suppression by armed agents of the regime.
From 1999 onward this has been a feature of any pro-democracy rallies in the country. People have always reported being directly shot at, which the state has persistently denied. Now, however, with the extensive use of smartphone cameras at the latest protests, the denials no longer hold.
This report is a collection of videos that show the lethal force and weaponry used by police and security forces in Iran in the past week. We will add to it as events on the ground progress.
At the time of writing, Iranian human rights organizations count at least 70 people who have been killed since protests over Mahsa’s death began last Friday. IranWire is continuing its efforts to identify all the victims. If you have any information please email info@iranwire.com.
