Protests against the Iranian regime continued in Tehran and other Iranian cities on Saturday a week after the killing of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman from Saqqez, by the capital’s so-called “morality patrol”.
Student demonstrations began at Tehran University at around midday. Internet access was so badly disrupted by the government that fewer videos were available than on previous days.
Citizens told IranWire there were about 30 black-uniformed officers stationed at each section along the city’s Keshavarz Boulevard. Water cannons were also placed along the boulevard and a large number of vans were also parked around Valiasr Square, seemingly intended to take any detainees away.
Despite this, by early evening several crowds of protesters were gradually forming in both locations and elsewhere in the city center.
Huge crowds were seen on the streets late at night chanting against the regime, apparently unimpeded. Some women took off their scarves and waved them out of car windows.

Large crowds also formed in Karaj, west of Tehran, and in the northern city of Nowshahr. The latter has seen some of the highest numbers in the country of people injured and killed by security forces this week.
Fresh rallies also took place in Sanandaj despite the huge deployment of security agents to the capital of Kurdistan province earlier in the week.
On Friday night it was also confirmed that a young woman who became an online sensation earlier in the week had been killed. Hadis Najafi, 20, had been filmed earlier in the week tying back her blonde hair before engaging with security forces. She was hit six bullets to the abdomen, neck and heart and died in Qaim Hospital, Karaj.

"She was only 20 years old,” Hadis’ sister told Alinejad. “Her heart was broken for Mahsa Amini. She said she wouldn't stay silent. They killed her with six bullets.”
Crowds also ran directly at security forces in the town of Kashmir, Hormozgan province.
