Iran Arrests Kurdish Journalist, Sends Him to Unknown Location

The Islamic Republic's security forces have arrested a Kurdish journalist and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

Fardin Mostafaei, a 39-year-old Kurdish journalist from Saqqez, was detained on Wednesday. Mostafaei is the manager of the Telegram channel "Saqqez Rudaw" and a member of the International Federation of Journalists.

According to the Hengaw human rights organization, intelligence forces arrested Mostafaei at a café along the Baneh road. His current whereabouts remain unknown.

No details are available regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges against him.

In November 2023, Mostafaei was summoned by the Saqqez Internet police (FATA) for publishing news about local issues on his Telegram channel.

He was questioned over allegations of "spreading false information and disturbing public opinion," following a complaint filed by the Saqqez governor.
