The Islamic Republic’s security forces searched the homes of two journalists and summoned a third to court on Tuesday as pressure on media workers in the country intensified.
According to the Defending Free Flow of Information (DeFFI) organization, officers confiscated Pejman Mousavi's mobile phone during an unannounced home search in Tehran.
In another raid, intelligence agents overnight broke into journalist Jila Baniyaghoob’s home, seizing electronic devices after falsely claiming to deliver mail.
Baniyaghoob was later summoned to appear at the Evin Prison prosecutor’s office.
Meanwhile, journalist Omid Faraghat from Alborz province was ordered to appear at Evin’s court.
DeFFI reported 256 legal actions taken against journalists in 2024, including 36 arrests and 11 prison sentences. Courts imposed nearly 70 years of combined prison terms and 110 lashes.
