A young Iranian man died under torture while in custody at a detention center in northern Gilan province.

Seyyed Mohammad Mirmousavi, a resident of Seyyed Mahalleh village in the Rudbeneh district of Lahijan, was arrested on August 24 and died the same day at a police station in Langarud due to severe torture inflicted by law enforcement officers.

A disturbing video has emerged showing Mirmousavi's body, revealing signs of severe beating and bleeding.

An eyewitness who participated in washing the body reported that security forces inflicted injuries to two areas of Mirmousavi's back and waist during the torture.

Another individual present during the recording of the video said that the young man was tortured and beaten while his hands and feet were tied.

Iranian security agencies, particularly the Langarud Prosecutor's Office in Gilan Province, have threatened Mirmousavi's family, warning them against sharing information or details about his death with the public or media, according to Hengaw, a human rights organization.

On August 28, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Lahijan made a statement acknowledging a "suspicious death of a suspect" without specifically naming Mirmousavi.

The prosecutor announced that a special investigator has been appointed to look into the matter, and five law enforcement officers have been arrested in connection with the case.
