Political activist Faezeh Hashemi was released from Tehran's Evin prison, her lawyer said on Wednesday.
Faezeh Hashemi, daughter of late Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, was released after serving two years in prison.
Faezeh was initially sentenced to five years in prison following her arrest during the nationwide protests in 2022.
Her lawyer, Mohammad Hossein Aghassi, confirmed that her release was granted after a ruling by an appeals court.
"Previously, there was opposition to Ms. Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani's conditional release, but today we were informed of the appeals court's decision, which approved her conditional release, and she was released from prison this evening," he said.
An outspoken critic of the Islamic Republic's policies, Faezeh was arrested in September 2022 amid the protests that erupted following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody.
She was subsequently convicted on charges of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic" and "disturbing public order by participating in illegal gatherings."
