The Islamic Republic army announced on Monday that it has added 1,000 new drones to its operational units.
The deployment ceremony took place at multiple locations across Iran, overseen by Army Commander-in-Chief Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Defense Minister Amir Aziz Nasirzadeh.
Military officials claim the drones possess advanced features, including a range of over 2,000 kilometers.
The aircraft reportedly can operate autonomously from launch to mission completion and maintain extended flight times.
The drones, jointly developed by Iran’s Army and Ministry of Defense at specialized production facilities, are designated for “special missions” and “countering long-range targets,” according to official statements.
The expansion of Iran’s drone program comes amid increasing international concern.
