JK Rowling of Harry Potter fame has voiced her support for Iranian protests, joining a host of international figures expressing solidarity against the murder of Mahsa Amini while in custody.
Posting on Twitter, Rowling said: "The Iranian regime kills young women who protest against misogyny.”
In Turkey, Salaheddin Demirtas, a jailed former leader of the People's Democratic Party, shaved his head as a gesture of protest.
Demirtas voiced anger over Amini’s murder at the hands of the morality police, and added that fighting discrimination was everyone’s duty, not simply women’s.
The former mayor of Diyarbakir, Adnan Seljuq Mazargholi, also shaved his head in solidarity.
