Iran Arrests 14 Suspected ISIS Members in Four Province Raids

The Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic has announced the arrest of 14 individuals allegedly affiliated with the ISIS Khorasan branch. 

The arrests, reported on Friday, resulted from a series of operations conducted across four provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Fars, and Khuzestan, according to the ministry.

The ministry's official statement said that the suspects had "entered the country illegally in recent days with the intention of carrying out terrorist operations." 

Seven of the alleged ISIS members were arrested in Fars province, while the remaining seven were captured in Tehran, Alborz, and Khuzestan. 

The identities and nationalities of the detainees have not been disclosed.

Over the past two years, there have been several terrorist attacks attributed to ISIS in Iran.

These include two attacks on the Shahcheragh Shrine in Shiraz and an attack during the ceremony commemorating former IRGC Quds force commander Qassem Soleimani's death anniversary in Kerman, claimed by ISIS.

ISIS officially claimed responsibility for the 2022 attack on the Shahcheragh Shrine and the last January attack on the Kerman ceremony.
