Iranian security forces have arrested several nurses at a hospital in Tehran amid ongoing nationwide strikes by healthcare workers.

According to the human rights website Hengaw, nurse Zahra Tamandon was taken into custody on Wednesday, along with several other nurses whose identities remain unconfirmed.

A source suggested that these arrests were likely connected to their recent participation in nurses' strikes across the country.

The healthcare sector in Iran has been in turmoil for the past 17 days, with strikes affecting around 50 hospitals and medical centers across seven provinces.

On Wednesday, nurses and medical staff held rallies in front of the Ministry of Health building in Tehran, as well as in the cities of Marivan, Ahvaz, and Isfahan.

The protesters are voicing concerns over low pay, lack of job security, and poor prospects that have driven many healthcare workers to leave the country.
