A Kurdish political prisoner is being denied urgent medical treatment at Mahabad Central Prison following 65 days in detention, where he endured physical and psychological torture, IranWire reports.
Abdullah Hoshmand, 29, was arrested on November 28, 2024, by Mahabad Intelligence Department forces while traveling between Piranshahr and Mahabad.
He was detained alongside Hawari Qoveh and held at a security detention center in Urmia before being transferred to Mahabad Central Prison 12 days ago.
Sources close to Hoshmand told IranWire that his health has severely deteriorated after 65 days in solitary confinement at a Ministry of Intelligence detention facility.
Despite his critical condition, prison authorities have denied him medical care. The prison's medical facility lacks the necessary equipment to treat his injuries.
Family members have repeatedly appealed to judicial and security authorities but have received no clear responses regarding Hoshmand's case.
Throughout his detention, he has been allowed only one brief phone call with his family, lasting less than a minute.
