According to information received by IranWire, Majid Kababi Hafez, a 43-year-old citizen from Mahallat County in Markazi province, has been in detention since January 4. Despite the passage of six months, no indictment has yet been issued against him. Furthermore, his physical condition is reported to be poor due to torture during interrogation and confinement.
According to informed sources, Ministry of Intelligence forces arrested him at his workplace. Following his arrest, agents accused him of participating in the January 3 protests in Mahallat, claiming that he played a role in setting fire to a traffic police kiosk by “throwing a Molotov cocktail” during the protests.
According to knowledgeable sources, charges of “leading and directing protesters” have also been raised against Majid Kababi Hafez.
Informed sources say that the confessions in the case file were extracted from him under pressure during interrogations. They also emphasize that visible signs of injuries and physical trauma resulting from torture, combined with deprivation of medical treatment, have made his physical condition alarming.
Based on the latest information, Majid Kababi Hafez was transferred from Mahallat to Arak Prison on April 12. Nevertheless, the judicial processing of his case remains shrouded in ambiguity.
Sources close to the case state that after the file was sent to the prosecutor’s office, the presiding judge returned the case to the Mahallat Intelligence Department due to incomplete investigations. According to these sources, despite six months having passed since his arrest, an indictment has still not been issued, and the case remains in the investigation stage.
Before his arrest, Majid Kababi Hafez was employed at a vehicle license plate registry center in Mahallat County.
