Concerns About the Health Condition of Sara Sepehri, a Baha'i Citizen

As nearly 60 days have passed since the arrest of Sara Sepehri, a Baha'i citizen residing in Shiraz, concerns over her physical condition and continued detention have intensified.

According to information received from an informed source, this prisoner's ocular condition at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz has reached a critical stage, putting her at risk of ocular hemorrhaging. Although preliminary medical measures were recently taken following the deterioration of her health, the source stated that these actions were insufficient and that her condition requires urgent specialized care and even temporary release for treatment.

According to the attending physician, Sara Sepehri’s eye condition has been described as acute and alarming, with the physician emphasizing that the stress stemming from detention conditions could lead to irreversible consequences for her vision at any moment. She also has a prior medical history of gastric hemorrhaging and severe ocular inflammatory issues.

The report further notes that the continued detention of this citizen is taking place while, according to the informed source, a portion of the interrogations has had no clear connection to the allegations raised against her, and her status remains in limbo.

Sara Sepehri was arrested by security agents at her personal residence in Shiraz on April 9. She is also the primary caretaker for her 80-year-old mother, who lives with a disability.
